Read!
This is what I see every day. I will be in the house cleaning or working on something, and probably 20 times a day Jax comes walking up holding a book up to me. He makes a noise which I assume means "Read!" If I fail to read it to him right then and there, he will take my hand, put it on the book, and plop himself down beside me to listen. I love this kid!
And here is my favorite... Love you, Mom!
I know what you're thinking...
You're thinking what a good mom I am, right? Really. I know. Quality bonding time with my child. No really, though. The movie was Jax' birthday present, and he clearly loves it!
Little "One"
We are so happy to have Jax part of our family. We never knew how much we were missing without him. Jax turned one a few weeks ago, and we had 3 consecutive weeks of parties. We celebrated with friends, far-away family, and family visiting. We really love our little guy and hope you can enjoy pictures of his party since we couldn't celebrate in person with you!
Party Number One:
We are grateful for good friends here in Philly. We had a double "first birthday party" with friends and neighbors, and had a good time eating and chatting.
Here is Jax after his first taste of birthday cake. YUM!
Here are the yummy cupcakes we had at the party. I thought they turned out pretty cute.
I just love this picture of Jax. He carried his balloon around the entire day. It was just his size, too.
Party Number Two:
We were able to Skype with JD's family on Jax' actual birthday. We opened presents together, and had fun watching him eat cake!
The second time around Jax discovered that icing is pretty tasty.
Party Number Three:
We were so excited that my mom and Rhett could come out and celebrate with us! We skyped with the rest of the family back in Utah, and watched Jax eat even MORE cake!
Notice how nice the cake was before it was DROPPED.
Jax and his Grammy...
Notice the cake AFTER it was dropped.
Jax loved all his presents, but especially this one!
Happy Birthday little Jaxeroni! We love you so much, and just
love watching you learn and grow every day! You make us so happy!

The betters...
As promised, here are some of the "better" pictures. We sure are glad Rhett and Mom could come hang out with us. Who's next in line to visit? Could it be you?
The Bell
Rhett ate more Philly Cheese Steaks in 3 days than most people have had in their life.
We had to go visit the stadium during the day since the playoffs were going on that night and it would have been CRAAAAZY!
Love this one.
Man.. gettin so big.
This one's just funny.
Cute kid, bad hairdo.
Do you think Cinderella had bicycle tires on her carriage?
Funny.
This one's a bit blurry, but cute.
Thanks for visiting Mom and Rhett!
Crazy shots with my funny mom.
My mom came to visit last week. I loved it. I loved her being here and having her help me with things and shopping with me. I loved that Jax could hang out with his Grammy for a few days instead of just skyping with her. When she and Rhett were here, we did lots of things.
One day I gave them a drive-by tour of Philadelphia since it rained hard the whole day. I was driving, my mom was in the backseat. And apparently taking pictures of every. single. thing. we saw. Keep in mind: she was in the backseat and it was rainy. I just had to put together a collection of the worst pictures of the trip. I'll make up with it with some good pictures later. For kicks, I will narrate.
Boy it sure is always an adventure when you are downtown. Crazy things happen down there. The best thing we saw was a colored man in a wheelchair with one leg. He was pushing himself down the middle lane of Broad street with his one leg-backwards. Did I mention it was raining cats and dogs? Why was he doing this? I have no idea. But that's how things go here in Philly. We'll keep ya on your toes.

This is our church. In the ghetto. Next to a Burger King (You will see the REAL burger KING later).
Row homes-crowded into every corner of the city.
(HERE is the real Burger King.)
Oop.. and Jax fell asleep during the exciting tour.
There are what we called "*mobile* row homes"
This is where JD goes to school everyday.
Best picture in the world of "LOVE park"
Good one. This is the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
And a cool bridge.
I just like Rhett's abstract shapes in this one.
This one is actually really good. Philadelphia skyline from the car. (Boy my window is clean!)
Not really sure what this one is supposed to be of.
Boathouse row (also from the freeway. I really like the sign in the foreground).
Rhett insisted on getting a picture of "Germantown" so he could get extra credit in his German class. That's right. Lone Peak is world class.)

Yummy little artist
I was trying to get the house clean before my mom arrived, and I needed to keep Jax busy. So I put him in the high-chair with some chocolate pudding like my mom used to do with me. He loved it. I love the progression of photos I got. He was a bit wary at first of the mound of goo before him. But he carefully touched, tasted, then went to town. A little too far into town, in fact. I found splashes of chocolate pudding all over my walls and *just-scrubbed* floors. Oh well. Good learning experience for the both of us. Look closely from start to finish...
Not so sure about this.. maybe I'll dip one finger in to taste.
Hmmm.. pretty good. Maybe I will use both hands.
Yum! I wonder if it will taste good on my forehead....
Mom must be crazy for giving this to me! Paaaaaaartyyyy!
Look closely in this one for the chocolate splatter on the wall. Nice.
Step into my office...
Jax has adopted this area of the house as his own personal office. He works here, plays here, and spends much of his time here. The cupboard. It has everything he loves. Places to hide, things to open and close, buttons to push, things that go up and down, and things that make noise. A match made in heaven. Excuse the blurry picture-- the camera was on a wacky setting, but still cute.
