80th Birthday Bash
This weekend JD and I went up to my parents' cabin for my Grandpa Reiber's 80th birthday. It was an adventure. We saw relatives who I've never seen, whose names I didn't know. I pretty much didn't know hardly anyone. That's okay, though. We had a good time and did get to see some relatives who we did know, just hadn't seen in a very long time. We even took some family pictures! The boys had fun working on things because my grandpa is a genius about fixing things. (My dad saves all his difficult projects for when my grandpa comes up.) What a fun birthday, though! I don't ever remember having our whole family together like that. Pretty cool. Anyway, here are a few pictures of our fun weekend at the cabin.
Kaden said his feet were cold so we put these huge socks on him.. he thought they were pretty cool.
I found Kaden like this outside on the hammock eating m&ms. Silly kid.

Homecoming Parade
We really love living in Cedar City. There are always things to do here. It seems like every time we go outside during the summer there is some kind of parade or festival or activity going on. This last weekend there was a parade celebrating homecoming here at SUU. We ran into our bishop there at the parade and spent some time visiting with him and playing with his grandson. We saw friends in the parade, too. What a fun place to live!

Weekend Adventure #2:Kanarraville Falls
Well, I realize that while I am creating a post now called Weekend Adventure #2. Here's the scoop-our friends had all the pictures on their camera of our outing two weekends ago and we just barely got them. So here they are. After our Grand Canyon Adventure on Saturday, we had Monday off from school so we decided to have some more fun. We went with our friends Brad and Nicole and also Isaiah to Kanarraville Falls. It was incredible! If you live in Southern Utah or are ever down here, I suggest this hike to you hands down! You have to hike in the river most of the hike, and the water was pretty cold already, but so much fun! The hike has lots of variety and gives you a good taste of what Southern Utah has to offer. After the hike, we all went to Mongolian Barbecue, which was fun. Wow--what a lot of food! I was impressed. We agreed that we still hadn't had enough fun, so we went out together and saw Kung Fu Panda at the awesome dollar theater. Did you know that some places still only accept cash? I was shocked. I thought I was living in the 21st century or something. Good thing we had a few bucks on us that day... We really enjoyed ourselves and got a good break from school and work. We had such a fun time and are happy we have such adventurous friends! ;)
above is Nicole climbing up one of the falls

below is a picture of all of us who were hiking--we thought this was a pretty cool tree.

On the trail there are some slides that are pretty fun. The fall directly to the right is a lot steeper and you don't hit the bottom of the pool at all, you just go completely underwater. I didn't try that one to say the least... the small one was enough for me.

Weekend Adventure #1: Grand Canyon
Thank Heavens for long weekends! JD and I were so excited to have a long weekend to do something fun! JD's friend Isaiah came down to hang out for the weekend, and he had never been to the Grand Canyon. So, we packed up and headed down. We came from the 100 degree St. George heat, so we were all wearing sandals, shorts, and short sleeves. Much to our dismay, we were greeted right outside of St. George with heavy rain--the WHOLE WAY DOWN. Well, we were getting close and it was raining harder and harder, and we even saw snow. Hallelujah. What were we thinking? We ran inside as fast as we could when we got there, and it was just in time. It started to thunder and lightning, and was CRAZY! I've never heard thunder so loud and so close. The thunder was simultaneous with the lightning (that's how close it was) And I'm sure the deep canyon walls of the Grand Canyon did a lot for sound effects during the thunder-storm. But alas, the rain and storm subsided and we were able to hike around for awhile. Here are a few pictures from our trip.
The cold abyss that we saw when we came close to the Grand Canyon. Nice mist, huh?
Here is JD soaking from running from the car into the lodge. Nice ride he's got, huh?
Oh, the happy couple.
Nick-man: Surprisingly, he didn't fall off the side of the Grand Canyon in this shot... :)
2 Years of Bliss
Wow, can you believe it has been two years since we got married? We sure can't. It is pretty weird for us to be the 'old people' in t he ward. (We are one of the top 4 oldest couples, and are the oldest couple in the married student ward without a baby. Nice, huh?) Anyway, we really can't believe it. We are still so in love, and love spending time together. We were just talking the other day about how special the time is that we get to spend together. It is actually now a month past, but on August 4th we celebrated our 2-year anniversary. We weren't able to do much, because I had meetings all day, and the temple was closed since it was a Monday. But we went out for dinner, and I made special 'anniversary' cinnamon rolls. (notice the pun in the picture below) This past week or so we made it to the temple again to do the traditional sealings for our anniversary. I hope you enjoy the pictures. We are so grateful for our temple marriage and that we can be together for eternity with our families. The blessings of those covenants bless our lives daily. I love you so much, JD. Happy 2-years.
